Hem / Tina's Crochet / Afghans & Rugs 41
Last addition: 01/13/2007
- Sophisticated Swirl
I made this afghan in June 1996 for some friends' wedding. The pattern is from Quick and Cozy Afghans, a Leisure Arts book. I highly recommend this book for beginner and advanced crocheters alike -- lots of easy, but beautiful, patterns in here. This swirl afghan is not only easy -- the only stitches used are sc and ch -- but it's very quick and warm, because it's made with two strands of worsted-weight yarn. I have to make one of these for myself. Pattern Source: Quick and Cozy Afghans can be ordered from Amazon. - Mile-A-Minute
This is an afghan I made for my mother. Pattern Source: Leisure Arts leaflet #2702, A Year of Afghans, Book Six , available from Country Yarns -- click on the link and order Leisure Arts leaflet number 2702. - Hexagon motif afghan
Another from Quick and Cozy Afghans. Pattern Source: Amazon has this book. - Crochet rug
This rug used 3 strands of worsted-weight yarn and a P-hook. Pattern Source: Crochet Collection by Leisure Arts. - Homespun afghan.
Homespun is the best yarn ever! Pattern Source: In Love With Crochet by Leisure Arts. - Baby afghan
Made this for my niece. See next photo for a close-up of one of the motifs. Pattern Source: a Lion Brand Jamie yarn wrapper. - Baby afghan (close-up)
Close-up of motif from the previously pictured baby afghan. - Pillowghan
My first attempt at an afghan that folds up into a pillow. (See next photo for how it looks folded.) Pattern Source: Quick & Easy Crochet magazine, September/October 1997 issue. I do not know if this can be backordered; if you wish to try, the address in the front of the magazine is P.O. Box 7129, Red Oak, IA 51591-0129. - Blue Star
I love afghan patterns that look like quilts. Pattern Source: I got this one as a kit from Herrschners; however, I do not think they sell it as a kit any longer. The pattern is also available from Amazon in Herrschners Blue Ribbon Afghans, but from what I have seen, the version of the pattern in the book is much less detailed than that in the Herrschners kit, and in one or two places it's incorrect. - Pillowghan (folded up)
Pillowghan, folded into pillow. See previous photo for description and pattern source. - Carousel Rug
I have made several of these as baby gifts; it's my favorite baby pattern. Pattern Source: Crochet With Heart, August 1998 issue. This magazine is now defunct and I'm told it's extremely hard to find this back issue. - Braided Rainbow Mile-A-Minute
Another baby gift. Pattern Source: This pattern comes from the Leisure Arts book entitled Mile-A-Minute Afghans. - Braided Rainbow (close-up)
See previous photo for description and pattern source. - Double-Sided Afghan
This is a cool pattern with each side a different color -- and it's crocheted that way using alternating colors on each row. But it's also an incredibly tedious pattern that I don't intend to do again if I can help it! Pattern Source: Free pattern on the Crochet Partners page. - "63" Afghan
Sampler afghan made of 63 squares, all with different patterns. The next few photos are close-ups of some of the squares. Pattern Source: Leisure Arts leaflet #555, "63 Easy-to-Crochet Pattern Squares Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan" -- available from Country Yarns and anyplace else LA leaflets are sold.
