- "63" Afghan
Sampler afghan made of 63 squares, all with different patterns. The next few photos are close-ups of some of the squares. Pattern Source: Leisure Arts leaflet #555, "63 Easy-to-Crochet Pattern Squares Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan" -- available from Country Yarns and anyplace else LA leaflets are sold. - "63" Afghan (close-up)

[11/20/2005] I made this one for a friend. It was kind of a bear; the border is made separately from the afghan and then sewn on, and my gauge must have been off because the border was way too big. I managed to attach it anyway. Also, I ran out of yarn about 3/4 of the way into the border and bought a new skein...and the color was very obviously different despite the fact that it was a "no dye lot" yarn. Once I found the right shade, I had to rip back and redo it. Pattern Source: American School of Needlework's leaflet #1129, "Afghan Elegance" by Ann Kirtley. Country Yarns carries it. - (Yet another) Homespun mosaic afghan.
[2/19/2005] Another one for a friend, made from Lion Brand Homespun, colors Antique and Romanesque. Pattern Source: This comes from my favorite afghan book, Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy by Lily Chin. This is the first pattern in the book, "Bargello." - Baby afghan
Another baby gift. Pattern Source: Crochet Collection by Leisure Arts. - Baby afghan
Made this for my niece. See next photo for a close-up of one of the motifs. Pattern Source: a Lion Brand Jamie yarn wrapper. - Baby afghan
[5/17/2003] Yet another baby gift. Pattern Source: This is the "September" afghan from Leisure Arts leaflet 3143, A Year of Baby Afghans, Book 3. This leaflet is also available from Country Yarns. However, a word of caution: although the leaflet I have is labeled as Book 3, on the Leisure Arts site it's listed as Book 2 with the same exact cover and the same exact item number as the one labeled "Book 3" that I have. LA does not mention a Book 3 at all. It's very strange. - Baby afghan (close-up)
Close-up of baby afghan; see previous photo for description and pattern source. - Baby afghan (close-up)
Close-up of motif from the previously pictured baby afghan. - Baby afghan (close-up)
See previous photo for description and pattern source. - Blue Star
I love afghan patterns that look like quilts. Pattern Source: I got this one as a kit from Herrschners; however, I do not think they sell it as a kit any longer. The pattern is also available from Amazon in Herrschners Blue Ribbon Afghans, but from what I have seen, the version of the pattern in the book is much less detailed than that in the Herrschners kit, and in one or two places it's incorrect. - Blue Waves afghan
[1/13/2007] - For all the afghans we have in our house, there wasn't one that Ray could use while watching TV. Of the two we have for that purpose, one is almost always in use (by me), and the other is too thick, unless the heat is not working or something. So I made him this. Pattern Source: Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy by Lily Chin. - Braided Rainbow (close-up)
