- Blue Waves afghan
[1/13/2007] - For all the afghans we have in our house, there wasn't one that Ray could use while watching TV. Of the two we have for that purpose, one is almost always in use (by me), and the other is too thick, unless the heat is not working or something. So I made him this. [11/20/2005] I made this one for a friend. It was kind of a bear; the border is made separately from the afghan and then sewn on, and my gauge must have been off because the border was way too big. I managed to attach it anyway. Also, I ran out of yarn about 3/4 of the way into the border and bought a new skein...and the color was very obviously different despite the fact that it was a "no dye lot" yarn. Once I found the right shade, I had to rip back and redo it. Pattern Source: American School of Needlework's leaflet #1129, "Afghan Elegance" by Ann Kirtley. Country Yarns carries it. - Close-up of ripple mosaic afghan pattern

Homespun mosaic afghan in colors "Barrington" and "Montana Sky." The matching pillow was a bit of a challenge since the top and bottom edges of the pattern are scalloped, but they fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, so it worked. This afghan has a really cool border -- twisted chains of alternating colors. It wasn't easy to do as I had to stop and untwist the skeins every few stitches, but it looks really neat. Pattern Source: See previous photo. - (Yet another) Homespun mosaic afghan.
[2/19/2005] Another one for a friend, made from Lion Brand Homespun, colors Antique and Romanesque. Pattern Source: This comes from my favorite afghan book, Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy by Lily Chin. This is the first pattern in the book, "Bargello." - Close-up of Drunkard's Path Homespun afghan.

[1/8/2005] I've wanted to do a quilt-like afghan for a while, so I chose the Drunkard's Path pattern with my favorite yarn, Lion Brand Homespun. Pattern Source: Homespun 6 Crocheted Quilt Afghans leaflet from Lion Brand Yarn Company. - Close-up of Homespun "mosaic magic" afghan.

[11/16/2004] Made this for a friend. Pattern Source: Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy by Lily Chin. - Dragonfly afghan (close-up)

[4/11/2004] Made this for a friend who likes dragonflies -- my first filet pattern with yarn. Pattern Source: ASN leaflet #1300, Crochet Filet Afghans. - Trellis close-up

[7/15/2003] I really love this pattern -- the texture, and the way it's different on each side. Even cooler, it's done using 2 rows of one color alternating with 2 rows of the other color -- no color changes within a row. The effect is done by using post and long stitches that extend down into previous rows. Pattern Source: Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy by Lily Chin.
