Home / Tina's Crochet / My Wedding! 5
For my June 19, 1999 wedding, I crocheted a dress, gloves, and favors. It was time-consuming, but I am very proud of the result.
- Bookmark wedding favors
I made these as favors for our wedding. The pattern is from the Leisure Arts leaflet Mile-A-Minute Bookmarks; I ordered ribbon with our names and wedding date to weave through them. - Gloves
I adapted the glove pattern from the same issue of Magic Crochet to make it fingerless. I also had to improvise since the patten was pretty vague and it also ended up being too wide for my small hands. - Headpiece
I didn't particularly want to wear a traditional veil, but with all the other crocheting, I didn't have time to make myself a headpiece. I had made a crochet barrette for my friend Laura's wedding a couple years ago, and she had made it even more beautiful by adding pearl sprays and ribbons to it. She volunteered to lend it to me for my own wedding, and I gladly accepted. She also lent me the purse I'd made her...and after the wedding she told me that these things went so well with my dress that I could keep them. Pattern Source: Vanessa Ann's Plain and Fancy Crochet contains the barrette pattern. The pattern for the flowers on the barrette is in the ASN Bridal Thread Crochet leaflet. Annie's Attic now distributes ASN's publications. - Thread purse
I actually made the purse for my friend Laura's wedding, but she gave it to me for mine. Pattern Source: Crochet for Today by Leisure Arts. - The wedding dress!
I still can't believe that I actually made this! The dress took me just short of five months to make -- I started it on December 16, 1998 and finished on May 9, 1999, or a little more than a month before the wedding. During that period, I did very little else besides crochet in my free time. Pattern source: Magic Crochet magazine, February 1999 issue.
